The most common incentives available for residential and commercial systems in Utah are:
Official Information:
Information and application forms can be found at Rocky Mountain Power Rebate Program
Amount Available & Project Caps:
$2/Watt cash rebate incentive based on system AC Watts output calculated as shown in the example below.
Funding starts at the beginning of each calendar year.
Residential – 3kW ac or $6,000
Commercial – 15 kW ac or $30,000
General Application Process:
- Determine the size and location of the system
- Work with an S202 Contractor to fill out and send in the application
- Apply for the Rebate
- RMP Pre-Construction Site Inspection
- Receive RMP Approval to Proceed
- Secure a City Building Permit
- Install the System
- City Inspection
- RMP Post-Construction Site Inspection
- Sign Net Metering Agreement
- Bi-directional meter installation
- Receive Rebate Check "usually within 60 days"
Rebate Calculation Example:
Assume the system has 10 modules.
The List of Eligible PV Modules
by the Consumer Energy Center (CEC) shows a rating for the example module of 168.8 Watts.
The List of Eligible Inverters
by the CEC shows a efficiency of the example inverter to be 95%.
The example calculation is:
10 modules x 168.8 Watts (CEC) x 0.95 (CEC inverter efficiency) = 1,603.6 Watts AC production
1,603.6 Watts AC x $2 / Watt = $3,207.20 rebate amount.
